Gimenez is one of the top infielders in the game and likely will be for a while. Gimenez is the Alomar and Guerrero Jr is the Carter. Now we just need a cagey Molitor like veteran and we are in the post season.

I watch a lot of baseball. Defensively, Gimenez is the best 2nd baseman in the game period. He's also super gritty. He led baseball in hit by pitches in 2022 with 25 and has followed that up with 35 HBP the last 2 seasons, while remaining healthy throughout. Gimenez can definitely take one for the team.

I'm still contemplating trading a player who steals 30 bases a year at a near 90% success rate and has to potential to hit around .300 (In 2022, Gimenez batted .297 and slugged around .450). He's only 26 years old and, although he struggled at the plate recently, he's still a year or 2 away from his prime. On average, hitters peak productive years occur between the ages of 27 to 33.

It's not hard to think this trade occurred because of an overly rigid financial dogma within the organization.

He's an upgrade over Horwitz at 2nd. Gimenez had a 4 WAR last year. Horwitz a 1.2. As a Guardians fan, I'm perplexed how this trade makes us a better team. Antonetti is a tool.

I’m a Jays fan and I can tell you that Spencer Horowitz is a better hitter than Giminez. Horowitz is an on base machine. This was actually a bad trade by the Jays

We love Gimenez in Cleveland. Probably the best defensive 2B in baseball but no he does not have a great bat - at least not the last couple seasons. The defense alone is not worth his contract. Not for a small market team like Cleveland. Plus they have Bazanna coming up, they're just clearing the runway for him. I expect Brito or Martinez to take 2B next season then we'll see Bazanna in 2026. It's one of those trades as a Cleveland fan you don't like initially but will make much more sense as time goes on.
