Cryptid By State South Dakota

We are continuing our Cryptid Family Road Trip making our journey from Oregon to South Dakota. For a state that doesn't get much attention it sure does have some interesting creatures and lore. One such story even proves that sometimes folklore is more than just myth.

I'm glad that you include the native peoples in each state. I find that interesting

South Dakota is where I had my weird experience while hunting on private land. I had been out for about three days and hadn't found any recent signs of deer near my camp so I pushed further into the property than I ever had when I pushed through a thick clump of trees. There sitting in the woods was a perfectly clean 1950s living room with nice chairs table and a couch. There were those white lacey table things and the fabric was all super clean and there was carpet on the ground going up a random flight of stairs. It was the single most unnerving thing I've ever seen and ran back to camp, I brought the guys with me to the spot and we all freaked out together. I now hunt with a buddy at all times.

I visit South Dakota about 2 times a year for the last 15 years, glad to hear about the cryptids. The Fossil history of South dakota is the true interesting part of the state- home to rhinos, mammoths, brontotheriums- at about the same time the Thunderhorse fossil lived, south dakota also had native Alligators

As a native South Dakotan, I'm really pleased with your presentation of its cryptids. I didn't know that there were that many!

Spirit mound! Heck yes, I used to go up there all of the time when I attended the nearby University of South Dakota in Vermillion. It's a nice little area to walk with lots of natural prairie grasses and small streams. I'd take my dog out there and let her run around off leash. I never saw any signs of little people or anything supernatural. I've even visited in the dark. I did have friends who encountered a strange being in Vermillion itself, but that's another story.

You did a great job covering my state and manage to cover several cryptids I was not aware of. Good job on the history of the state and the native peoples as well as the rivalry between the Good Dakota and the Bad Dakota

Uploading even on a holiday! So I do not have to wait for my lunch break to watch.
Love the Dinosaur cryptids If it was a sauropod dinosaur like you picture... I am just imagining a Bigfoot riding it flintstone style
I remember reading a dinosaur book as a kid, Using the name for the Megaceops as Brontotherium, and explained it was named after the legend of the thunder horse, as Bronto means thunder in greek

I’m thinking North Dakota next. I had to slow down the speed by 25% so that I can catch everything you said. Lol
But good video again
Well done

You rock, Ben! Glad to hear of your plan to do a "Haunted By State" series! The family-roadtrip vibe is really fun, and I'm glad that the trip may continue for quite awhile longer. (It has been much more fun than any of the actual family road trips I've survived over the years, that much is certain!) Happy Labor Day, and all the best to you! --N

As always great video. There were quite a few I haven't heard of so very interesting. I vote we save some gas (😄) and visit North Dakota. Have a great week and Happy Labor Day.

You forgot South Dakota's most famous (and certainly mythological) creature: the jackalope!

The history part is almost as good as the cryptids! #Question for Ben Are you coming up with a poll for the next adventure? Or looking for suggestions?
