Getting into #holidaymode with Telus and yoyomax12

Telus is launching a campaign asking people to get into #holidaymode by putting down their electronic devices and making face to face connections with family and friends during this holiday season.

#holidaymode   It would be a great idea if family brought out some boardgames and card games to help people interact with the people present in the room at the Christmas/Holiday celebrations.  Unplug and put down your phone :)

To get into holiday mode I enjoy baking Christmas treats to bring to my family.  Great campaign to encourage people to be in the present and not distracted during the holidays.   #holidaymode

This is a wonderful idea! Being from the generation that "can't live without our smart phones" and having friends and family also in that generation in family gatherings I will definitely be giving #holidaymode  a shot these holidays. :)

brilliant idea for the phones! BRILLIANT! Love the idea and good for telus for doing this. I don't have a mobile phone but it drives me nuts when people are constantly looking down at them and not focusing

When we have meetings at work we do something similar. We put our phones in a box labeled "Phone Daycare" :3

Thank You about speaking out about the Cell Phone situation. We do not have one, but members of the family do. When my children come from so far away, and we only see them 1 - 2 times a year, it really bothers me when they have the phone in their hands and instead of visiting, they are scrolling and typing on the phone. I hope this gets out to everyone, and family and friends will become more Personal!  Merry Christmas!

I'm going to get into #holidaymode by getting better! I'm sick right now, and there's nothing is love more than to feel well enough to get my gifts wrapped and put my decorations up. That's how I'm planning to get into #holidaymode!

I understand why some people would appreciate this campaign, but as a college student living away from home during this holiday season the only way I can connect with my friends and family is through my electronic devices. Even when I am able to make it home for the holidays, my family and I like to be able to text or facetime our friends or family out of state to feel more connected during our holiday festivities even though we're miles apart. My cousins and I make face to face connections by playing video games together, playing mobile apps together, sharing photos on our phones. My aunts and I like to share recipes we find online and having a smartphone around makes them more accessible. Anti-technology sentiment bugs me quite a bit.

#holidaymode I was just talking to my son about this a few days ago. We are going to have "device free" times this holiday season when everyone has to put away their cell phones and no video games. We are going to play board games, back treats, and watch holiday movies together. I'm so excited!

I saw this Telus commercial a few times on television. Interesting. Thing is I don't celebrate Christmas, so I'm not really doing anything different. But then again, I'm not much of a computer person.
