Can Germany's Gepard destroy Russian Drones?
The Gepard, also known as the Flakpanzer Gepard, is a formidable armored vehicle with a unique design optimized for anti-aircraft warfare. Its powerful twin cannons made it a fearsome adversary against aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and rockets. These guns are capable of firing two parallel streams of 35mm rounds into the air to take down drones as well. Although Germany has phased out this cold war era vehicle, however it remains a significant piece of the anti-aircraft system in several armed forces around the world. Developed in the 1960s and fielded in the 1970s, the Gepard has undergone several upgrades with the latest tech. Its name "Gepard" means "cheetah" in German, which reflects its high speed and mobility. The Gepard comes in two different variants: the Dutch & German versions. During the cold war, it had been the backbone of the air defense for the German Army and other NATO countries. Germany replaced the Gepard with the Wiesel tank and the GTK Boxer. Over the years, the Gepard has been upgraded with several enhancements including a fire control system, target engagement, shorter reaction time, and better hit-and-kill probability. A new version of the Gepard was proposed featuring two Stinger missiles mounted to the sides of each gun. However, the project was abandoned due to financial constraints. With a weight of 38tons, the Gepard was built over the Leopard 1 chassis. It has a large rotating turret armed with dual 35mm auto-cannons as its primary weapon. The height of the turret roof is 10.8ft(3.3 meters), the width is 12.2ft(3.7 meters), and the length from the turret's 12 o'clock position is 25.2ft(7.7 meters). The Gepard is manned by a team of three individuals, including a commander, gunner, and driver. The Gepard is powered by an impressive 10-cylinder multi-fuel engine that features not one, but two superchargers! The engine produces 830hp to propel the vehicle to its maximum speed of 40mph(65km). Depending on the terrain and driving style, the engine has a fuel efficiency of approximately 1.6mpg (0.67kml). This mean machine has the capacity to store a whopping 260gal (985 L) of fuel, enabling it to cover an operational range of 342mi (550km) without breaking a sweat! The Gepard is equipped with two radars, each serving a distinct purpose. One radar sits at the rear of the turret, scanning 360° of the skies, and has a range of 9.3mi(15km). The Gepard is outfitted with a fire control system connected to a C3 (Command, Control, And Communications)battle management system. The Gepard is armed with a pair of 35mm automatic cannons, capable of firing with pinpoint accuracy. With guns that measure an impressive 90 calibers or 10.4ft(3.15 meters) in length, the Gepard can fire both anti-aircraft and anti-armor rounds. These guns have a jaw-dropping muzzle velocity of 4,700 ft/s, providing an effective range of 3.4mi(5.5km).. In addition to the turret's full 360-degree rotation, these guns can be elevated to an almost 90-degree vertical angle. The usual loading configuration includes 320 anti-aircraft rounds along with 20 armor-piercing rounds. The firing rate of each gun is 550 rounds/min, resulting in a combined rate of fire of 1,100 rounds/min. With the increasing use of combat drones, the need for effective countermeasures has become more important than ever. The Gepard's advanced targeting system and rapid-firing cannons allow it to engage and neutralize hostile drones quickly and efficiently, reducing the need for more expensive and complex anti-drone technologies. Additionally, the Gepard's mobility and flexibility make it an ideal solution for protecting critical assets and military installations against drone attacks. Because of drones I think allot of militaries will rethink anti aircraft guns.

I don't know if the radar is sensitive enough for small drones such as the dji
