Tbf some things you cannot get until the last minute food wise I mean

I never understood why this has become such a tradition. People buying new phones, cars, refurnishing their homes and all the clothes shopping done in Ramadhan seems mute. I haven't done this since my kids were very young, many years ago. Even when I did it was under pressure by my in-laws. It being summertime and vacation time for me being a teacher it is a good time for house and car spring cleaning or repairs and a good time to get my kids clothes for the upcoming academic year.  However, spending hundreds or thousands on new clothes to celebrate the ending of a month of charity, piety and prayer seems wrong. We are told to wear our best, that does translate to wasting our time shopping all night spending money on what is worn for show.
