What Roster will the USMNT send to the Olympics?

We're 6 months out from the Paris 2024 Olympics and I'm building a USMNT Olympic Roster. It's a complex one because only Under-23 plus 3 overage players are eligible for the Olympic Roster. Our best players like Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi and Weston McKennie will be at the Olympics and won't be able to go to the Olympics so who makes it?

I would bring Justin Che tbh because he has that flexibility to play RB as well as CB. He'd probably be the #1 backup option if any of the teams don't want to release the defenders you mentioned.

I would bring Pefok as an over-age striker. Not that it matters but he is a good super sub if we need a goal or need an aerial threat. He also speaks good english now

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to try to send more of our A squad guys? If the goal is to grow the game more people in the US will watch the Olympics than Copa America so should we try to go all out while more US casual eyes are on the Olympics?

There will be some tough choices. I’d figure out a way to get Esmir Bajraktarevic in, he was pretty much the best U23 player in the October and November windows and I have a feeling he’s going to bust out for NER this Spring. I think Sargent is going to be on the senior squad, so that probably leaves a Haji Wright instead at striker. I might just have Wright as the sole striker and use Kamungo as the backup striker, and fit in Esmir. Otherwise, good lineup, lots of tough choices and lots of deserving candidates that won’t make the cut.

I would give all the age-eligible senior players the option to play both Copa America and Olympics. They are young, they can handle it. If they want to play and the club will release them then let them play.

Really good picks. I would prefer Gutierrez over Paxton but I don’t see Chicago releasing him for all the reasons you mentioned. Also I don’t see booth as a long term wide player, but he would definitely be one of the better underage options there for us

Thanks Pete for responding to my ask from the last video! I am likewise concerned about the CB situation for that age group, but think with the us not having any quality pieces for a 9 I'd rather run shorter depth there with either Dietz or Che instead of one of the two guys you mentioned as the primary back up, and see if we can get both Sargent and Haji up front. It would also make me feel better about our winger situation in case we needed to push Sargent wide. The SKC guy in me is sad bout busio not being in your top 5 picks, but I think you're right on with what you said, Lotta depth 5 spots. Will Mitrović coach the tourney as the u23 coach or will it be Berhalter?

Brandan Craig has to be there. Only not playing in MLS because he’s behind the best starting CB pair in the league. Craig’s ability on the ball is special for a CB. Plus can play 6 in emergency
