Sri Lankans want closer cooperation and friendship with China! A right decision which the Maldives would soon realize

WION is shooting off the hip here. From an Indian perspective its better to await developments rather than immediately judging the Rajapaksa government. Lots of Sinhalese look up to them for ending the LTTE conflict, despite the heavy tolls on both sides. Lets not forget the leading Indian & Srilankan leaders who were assassinated by LTTE. The peace with Sri Lankan Tamils is going to take time and effort on both sides, and underhand supporters of LTTE will need to be tried. Currently Sri Lankans are feeling a major security concern after the Easter bombings- so the Rajapaksas coming to power this time may have another context; and this concern will also cover the security threat of leasing the port to Chinese.
