Is Jordan Peterson's Diet Crazy? Robert Kiltz, MD's Quick Take
Показать описание
Lots of people in mainstream medicine/nutrition/media think Jordan Peterson’s diet is absolutely bonkers and that he'll probably die early from heart disease because of it.
I’m here to tell you that what Dr. Peterson eats is actually the healthiest and most evolutionarily consistent diet for a human.
When you start to think about it, it becomes so blatantly obvious; à la Occam's razor.
What things have all the nutrients an animal needs to survive? The obvious answer is other animals.Plants on the other hand can not get up and run away, and most do not have thorns. They engage in chemical warfare to deter predation so they can grow and make plant babies.
Of course, there are vegetarian mammals, but their biology and digestive system are vastly different from ours.
🦠 Vegetarians have large fermentation centers that turn fiber into fatty acids. These can be ruminant animals (ie cows, lamb, elk, etc) with “multiple stomachs” or “single stomach” animals with very large large intestines (like apes).
Either way, these fermentation centers turn fiber into fat so even though they eat mostly plants, they get a vast majority of their calories from fat.
🧐 The ph of animal stomachs is largely based on the types of food the animal eats.
Scavengers have the lowest (most acidic) stomach acid, followed by carnivore, then omnivore, then herbivores.
Humans have a baseline pH of 1.5 which is akin to scavenger species and certainly not the pH of an omnivore or herbivore.
It’s not exactly clear when this evolved, but it likely means we evolved as scavengers for some time before hunting and killing our own prey.
🍀 Furthermore good luck beating birds and tree primates to fresh fruit, wild boars to tubers, or otherwise finding vegetation suitable for human consumption in the wild.
Yes, if this is the first time hearing this, it may sound crazy, but I’m telling you that as a medical doctor with over 30 years of practice, nothing has helped my patients heal and improve their fertility and so many other diseases like eating an #allmeatdiet, the #carnivorediet.
