When we look up at the night sky we stars and galaxies as they were not as they are. By the time we see a star go supernova it's just the light arriving at our line of sight. We see the past in our present. That's so cool👌🏼

To be fair, the early days of the universe would have been much more active and violent than today, so more stars would have formed then. So it’s not that we’re nearing the end of the universe, at least not in a while from now, just that most of the stars formed relatively early and we’re now in the calmer period.
