On this video I'm quickly showing you how to make an edm drop. All you need is a catchy melody with multiple layers, fat bass, pianos to fill up the gaps and drums! The scale used on the song is G#/Ab ichikosucho.

Bro you're telling me that everyone hate this tutorial and say "this sucks, this is off-key, learn your scales blah-blah-blah" because of ONE SINGLE "OFF-KEY" NOTE? First of all, everyone treats this as if it was a mistake, but how do you know that's not intentional? And second, you DON'T NEED TO HATE EVERYTHING THAT DOESN'T FOLLOW THE EXACT RULES! Yes, theoretically, you "can't have a D in a Fm scale", but that doesn't mean that it's strictly forbidden... Plus, this doesn't sound bad at all, it still fits really well and you barely even notice it...
Sorry if that got a little heated but yeah these hate comments genuinely made me angry. Really, fuck you everyone who commented "bro this is trash" or whatever on it

How to make EDM tutorial

Step One: Make a good melody

This is good! After listening to it after a while I get the idea on what you're going for.

There are some bits that need a break during the melody as I do think it's a bit much going on and some parts need to be in key. If it's a stylistic choice, maybe try finding a different/better off note.

I do think the sound will need to be changed for the lead or add more layers to the lead itself.

I usually go 2-3 panned halfway left, 2-3 panned halfway right, and then roughly 2 just in the middle. Have these two in mono, but only halfway.

Also make sure to adjust the volume on each lead as well as processing :) If it's all the same volume, it will destroy your track.

The chords are just supporting the lead have about 2-3 layers for the chords and have it stereo. This will make your track sound wide 🙂

The bass was really good, it was nice and crisp. Just a small tip add a sliding note on F4 above the last note on C4, this will make the bass stand out 🙂

The drum selection wasn't to bad, maybe just look for better sounds, and maybe do some eq work and your good to go.

Tip for your melody. Make something that isn't just random. You want something that it simple, easy to remeber, catchy and will get stuck in peoples head for ever.

Melody sounds random and static cause there is no variation in note lengths or time, also the d key sounds off whether it is in the scale or not it doesn't sound right there. Also some sidechain would help to allow the kick to punch more.
