Completely agree with you on all counts. Another one I find extremely forgiving is the Phalenopsis Orchid, I barely water it, probably a thorough soaking once every few weeks/month, it can tolerate low light though it won't bloom unless you have it medium light. Has gorgeous blooms that last for 4-5 months and can even bloom twice for you. Had zero issues with pest in 20 years. I hardly fertilise it either.
