Melanie Safka was one of the really underrated and under appreciated singers of our time. She had some pipes.

I still sing Brand New Key, it's one of the first songs I ever learned, I was 4 years old. God rest your soul Melanie. Thank you for the music. ❤

When I was a child in the 80s, I was kind of the "leader" of our neighborhood group of friends. Everytime we went somewhere on our bikes, I would take the lead and 'Leader of the Pack' would be going through my head and I would pretend to "rev my bike" with the bike handles, lol. Thank you for the great memories that I never forgot because of that one song. R.I.P.

"Look what they've done to my song, Ma!"
The real meaning of those words hold up like never before!
Rest in peace Melanie! 🙏🌹🦋

The Osgood File, and especially CBS Sunday Morning and the signature sign off, "I'll see you on the radio ", were all trademark characteristics of Mr.Charles Osgood. He made the docu-magazine, Sunday Morning, an educational, entertaining Classic, a pleasure to get up for early on Sunday. Mrs Marlena Shaw was an exceptional singer-songwriter with the sultry hit, "Go Away Little Boy ", and early television pioneer, Bob"Captain Kangaroo "Keeshan, with "Mr Green Jeans ", "Mr Moose ", made the breakfast cereal taste pretty good. May they, and All the other persons memorialized here, Rest in Peace. 🙏🏾💔🙏🏾💙💚🖤❤☀️."See you on the radio "-C.Osgood

I was shocked to hear that Melanie passed away. I never saw or heard any mention of this on the news. She was a girl from Queens, NYC who was so talented and never received the accolades she deserved. Writing songs that were part of the history of Woodstock and that generation, certainly made her one of the legends of that era. So sorry to hear of her passing.

Now Melanie will be missed, my mother had a lot of her music in her personal collection, I would listen to it almost every week during the winter months in Alberta.

The flags in my heart are still at half-staff for you, Mr Sam Cooke. Your smooth voice, endless musicality, and sensitivity to the emotional undercurrents in America are still an influence. _"It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come."_
