in the first part aka 0:00 is just him starting to reflect on his relationship with Iasa, overlooking her but has his distance
EVERYTIME ZERUK FLIES IT´S VERY SMOOTH WHAT - LIKE ALL THE MOVEMENTS FOR THESE SCENES ARE PHENOMENAL
he basically needs her to sustain this friendship, but also needs her to sustain his sanity

0:03 "and I think I saw you in my head one too many times" - he always thinks about what she´s doing or if she´s doing good, but he´s so paranoid all he sees with her is sadness, like she isn´t happy with him; making him now scared she might leave him
he says he´s loving it, probably talking about being with Mowette, but he´s sweating so he´s lying - Iasa did not look up so she´s used to this self-gaslighting
him trying to protect her from Mowette is indeed selfish in Iasa´s eyes as Iasa did not ask for this nor does she want him to risk his life for her
yet when Iasa cries, he´s shocked and confused because he thought him being the knight in shiny armor would make her happy, yet it did the opposite as she obviously doesn´t want to see Zeruk getting abused by Mowette 24/7, but he doesn´t know what to say back, even when Iasa leaves, because he can´t say his feelings in fear she wouldn´t understand (this "no one would understand me" mentality could also come from the Kurez stuff, who´d believe that someone who´s dead is haunting you and is the reason you´re evil? precisely, he feels all alone all the time to the point where he even thinks Iasa his bestest friend wouldn´t believe his non sense)

he spent "too much time" trying to make the friendship work even if his mind is all over the place, then just like 0:00 they have their distance on each other but both now look concerned in different ways; Iasa looks concerned if Zeruk is okay, and Zeruk is concerned she´d leave him

I think the lyrics for this part is both for Mowette and Iasa; he invested energy and time to Iasa as he platonically loves her as a friend and loves spending time with her no matter how draining it is - he invested energy and time to Mowette too but to protect Iasa (his evil curse may have also encouraged him to be some sort of sidekick for her since she´s a criminal) and it´s so mentally draining but he´s doing so for the sake of Iasa - draining his energy and time to Mowette for Iasa, so tragic, Mowette even has her tail wrapped around Zeruk making it seem way more like he´s trapped
ALSO MOWETTE´S ACCESSORIES AND SMALL DESIGN CHANGE FIT HER PERSONALITY AMAZINGLY OMG I LOVE HER
0:19 is just her bullying Zeruk, she doesn´t need to treat him that good since why would she spend her "energy" on his behalf she doesn´t care THAT much about him - she even strangles him for a second there and looks like she´s sort of smiling evilly when she watches him drop, it´s entertainment for her

THE SMALL WALK CYCLES OMG
when they walk, Zeruk looks really weak and even drops to the ground, but Mowette doesn´t even look back and flies away without him - leaving him there to look up at her leave, this can be an indication why he also thinks Iasa can leave him because of how much times it has happened to him already
0:24 Zeruk´s held back but he doesn´t know how to explain it, it´s too much to explain - which is why he´d never tell Iasa
so much stress with Kurez, Mowette, and probably way more guys like Kyia, are towering authority over him so he´s again trapped and stuck
Iasa also feels like he´s "deceiving" from him saying he´s fine when obviously he´s not, him faking his smiles even if it´s clear he´s sweating and not telling the truth
but then he cries in front of her, even if he was supposed to keep up the happy act he just instantly cried, but he turns away to not look at her because he doesn´t want her to see him sad - he´s "barely breathing", aka he´s barely going on and barely living anymore, the pain from living every day is too much
0:30 he again is smiling but Iasa instantly shakes her head and looks at him with a panicked expression and then Zeruk cries a little and looks back, she looks like she found out the truth, which is not what Zeruk wanted

you made it pretty obvious with those captions but basically; Zeruk is pessimistic and this shows how paranoid he is of losing Iasa, in protecting her he´s pushing her away, "left you", and he can´t help being "selfish" in the eyes of everyone else since that could also imply him pushing everyone away to preserve his sanity/protect them but it really looks selfish to others

I had to look up the lyrics for Iasa´s part (sounds like gibberish to me omg) and it matches - her saying "I´m out of this city now" is an indication of saying she´s done with his bs or is leaving him, no wonder Zeruk´s so paranoid
NOOO SHE CRIED
then Zeruk again but with his evil eyes - he sounds more sincere when his eyes are like that (kinda like if he was DRUNK HAISDHFHA wait is there even alcohol in this world), him saying "rescue me from this life this Hell" has a sad meaning, he needs her for him to be happy and free but he would never say this out loud and is still pushing her away because of the "Hell" he´s in

hehe English was my highest grade because of my analytical skills of breaking down stories so then I also improved on theorising hehehehe
but gaahhh so fun and honored to be able to see this big piece of art and talk about it in huge detail
(I cut it in sections so it looks readable to the eyes omg I wrote a lot)
but again I love this so much omg, the emotions of every character (mostly Zeruk and Iasa) and the way they interact with one another tells the story so well, it´s just amazing how you can do this every time with this amount of effort >:O
