I don’t usually do the “kids today” bit but here goes. Kids today don’t understand that dunking was more spectacular those days, not because players jumped higher but because it meant the guy went through a defense that was setup so you couldn’t score those kind of baskets. The 3 was an afterthought almost, people were going for the midrange or the transition game or really just look for the big guy. Players like Grant Hill that went to the basket at will were really something special.

As a Pistons fans, I celebrated when we drafted him. Injuries killed him, but before the injuries, his ability to handle the ball and get to the basket was incredible. Smart player, high IQ, such a shame about his ankle.

Grant Hill was so smooth and definitely one of the best "what if" players in NBA history. On top of that, he was a great role model and all-around stand up dude!

If not for those injuries, Grant Hill would've been part of the NBA 75 players. He and Penny Hardaway .

One of the few players that showed absolutely no fear and could go at Mj and Pippen straight up!

Grant was nice. He was fearless. It didn't matter who was in front of him. He was taking it to them. As a Heat fan, I still remember him slamming Alonzo Mourning on the ground and then dunking on him a few plays later. #Savage. He had one of the sweetest crossovers too. He might have been known as a nice guy but on the court, he was a Bad Boy.

First of all, I am a Knick. Grant Hill was so good early in his career that I became a fan of his (even Jordan couldn't do that). I'm sure if Grant hadn't gotten such a bad injury, he would be a top 5 player.

Grant Hill might be a top five player all time if he didn't get injured. He was scary good!

Man the 1990's NBA had so much fun game. So much swag and flow. NBA Jam, early 90's hip hop. Starter Jackets. The jerseys like the Orlando Magic, Raptors, Pistons. The colors and styles. The Penny Hardaway sneakers. The basketball cards like Topps Stadium and Upper Deck. NBA Hoops. The old weekend show NBA Inside Stuff and the best times ever with the NBA on NBC and the theme song. I'm not saying the 90's is the best decade in NBA history. I would argue the 80's may have that but the 90's wow. What an era. Was tough, had flash. Had big men playing Center. Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, Mourning, Dikembe. Even the videogames were fun. NBA Live 95, NBA Live 96, NBA Jam, NBA Showtime. Just fun era. Larry Johnson Grandma Ma commercials. The Be Like Mike ones. Lil Penny, even college basketball in the 90/s The 1990 UNLV Runnin Rebels, Michigans Fab 5, UNC, Duke. The 1992, 94 and 96 dream team. Reggie Miller scoring 8 points in 6 seconds on my Knicks. So much. Then you had the young era of Tim Duncan, Kobe, Allen Iverson that came along. Grant Hill, Penny, Webber, Shaq geez.

One of the greats. His ten year run, Duke and Detroit, was amazing and a joy to watch. There was nothing he couldn't do and do at a high level. He had a rare combination of grace, power, and basketball IQ.

Remember all those talks about the 'heir apparent'? Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway were the two guys most talked about at the time. Grant Hill was a sensational player. It was just unfortunate that he got injured very early on in his career.

By far my favourite player as a young kid, so electric, I was devastated when he got hurt, even as a kid I knew he’d never come back the same. For me, him and the Magic are the biggest “what if” story in the NBA

Grant hill had unlimited potential in the NBA. It's a shame he was injured most of the time. I respect him for never giving up. He could have just taken the money and quit, but he kept coming back because he loved the game.

Grant was a Monster in Detroit!!! Also good to hear the legendary George Blaha on the mic for the play by play!

I remember the first time I really saw Grant Hill. Duke. It's burned into my brain. Not very often that happens. And he's a nice guy.

He was basically Kobe before Kobe, with maybe a hint of Vince Carter mixed in his game, one of the biggest health related “what ifs”, along with D Rose.

Grant Hill was like a pre-LeBron...
First time in Cleveland

Very exciting player

If he'd stayed healthy, Detroit would've been contenders with a solid roster
