Spanish Muslims embark on 8,000 km Hajj journey on horseback

Thirty-five years after pledging to complete their Hajj pilgrimage on horseback, four Spanish Muslims are finally embarking on their 8,000 km journey.

Starting from Almonaster La Real, an ancient Andalusian village where pilgrims once set off for Mecca, they will follow a route through Spain, France, Italy the Balkans and Türkiye, and eventually arrive in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Seeing Spanish Muslims dressed like that really makes think of what Andalusia would’ve looked like in its prime, I’m wishing them a successful pilgrimage & Hajj, viva Al Andalus.

Historically the Hajj journy starts from Andalusia to Morrocow and travels through North Africa, every region they pass, they find the people from that region waiting for them to travel together, until they reach Palestine and then head south towards Mecca.

I pray to Allah to liberate the holy land, and the old route will be available again. 🙏
