Retcon vs recovery. One curious little story I like, in order to show how the Bible's "what" is sometimes fouled up on the "how" side of things is this: previous to Newton most Christian scholars simply assumed that the planets HAD to move in perfect circles, because that was how they imagined God would have done things, but when they actually looked at creation it turned out that God was fine with ellipses.

Science and religion can coexist insofar as they are not logically or empirically mutually exclusive.
If religions make no precise claim about that which it Is concerned with, one cannot say that It Is logically or empirically wrong. At the same time one has a religion which basically say nothing about anything.
If a god Is omnibenevolent and omnipotent and allow the existence of this world it follows that either this Is the best of the possibile worlds or the God in question not omnibenevolent or omnipotent or It doesn't exist.
If One allows anything tò happen and justifies it by saying 'God works in misterious ways' basically One Is saying that It Is impossible tò derive a contradiction from God's existence
If this Is not enough a reason tò not dwelve in such discussions, I don't know what Is.
