Syria: Story of bread

Bread is a staple of Syrian cuisine and is made differently from other types of bread worldwide. Unfortunately, with the deteriorating economic situation in northwest Syria, securing bread has become yet another daily challenge.

Mustafa, a displaced father in a village on the front lines, struggles to secure bread for his family. His is one of more than 20,700 families in 38 villages who receive subsidised bread through our Bread Project, which targets at-risk families and hard-to-reach areas.
