New BMW X2 2023 - Visual OVERVIEW exterior & interior

The 2023 BMW X2 brings sporty driving dynamics and expressive styling to the subcompact luxury crossover segment. Now entering its sixth model year, the X2 sees minor changes including a new special edition model called the Edition Goldplay.

With its sloping roofline and hunkered-down stance, the X2 has a more dynamic presence compared to upright rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40. For 2023, the Goldplay model ratchets up the attitude with unique gold exterior accents and a more aggressive front fascia. These special touches give what was already a stylish little crossover an even trendier look.

Under the hood, all X2 models pack a peppy 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine putting out 228 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive are available. Acceleration is sprightly, with BMW claiming a 6.3-second 0-60 mph time for the all-wheel drive xDrive28i. Equally impressive is the composure in corners, with the X2 staying flatter than you’d expect in an SUV. The tradeoff is a somewhat stiff ride quality.

Inside, the X2 provides reasonably comfortable seating for four adults. Cargo space is modest for the segment, but fine for most lifestyles. Interior materials look upscale with metal and piano black trim contrasting various leatherette and leather upholstery choices. The standard infotainment system is controlled by BMW’s latest iDrive interface with responsive graphics on the 8.8-inch touchscreen.

Standard driver assistance features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning. Upgrading to the Driving Assistance package adds desirable extras like adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring.

The 2023 X2 starts at $38,595 for the sDrive28i. Opting for all-wheel drive on the xDrive28i adds $2,000. The fashionable Edition Goldplay model tops the lineup at $42,445.

In total, the latest BMW X2 continues to deliver athletic handling and eye-catching style for premium subcompact crossover shoppers, and the special edition Goldplay model offers an extra dose of youthful flair. BMW keeps this fun-loving little SUV feeling fresh as it reaches the later stages of its model cycle.
