‘Argonauts’ - Fantasy Board Game Review
The Bottled Imp grabs its supplies, rounds up our crew and jumps on board the Argo as we become ‘Argonauts’. This is a 1 to 4 player cooperative board game for ages 10+ and takes about and hour/hour and a half to play. It’s designed by Lefteris Iroglidis, Konstantinos Iovis, and Ionnis Stamatis, published by AlcyonCreative.

We’ve all heard of the Greek myth Jason and the Argonauts right? The one where Jason goes on a massive sea quest in search of the legendary Golden Fleece? Yeah, you’ve seen the film, right? Well, you get to jump on board the Argo and search for the Golden Fleece for yourself! You’ll have to feed your crew, repair your ship, trade for materials and equipment, oh, and fight deadly creatures the like of you’ve never seen before! Sound good? Of course it does. It’s Jason and the Argonauts after all.

The premise of the board game is that simple. Sail around the board exploring the deadly seas, find the Golden Fleece and sail on home. Simple! Well, not quite that simple. Run out of rations and you’ll soon have dead sailors on your hands. Run out of sailors and there’s no way of sailing home. If your ship takes too much damage, you’ll sink! But if you pool your crews talents, buy wisely at the city ports, and have the favour of the Gods, then there’s a chance you and your fellow Argonauts will return home heroes. And glory is what it’s all about!
