Hologram Microcosm: Syncing to DAW Clocks

This video covers the process of syncing Microcosm to your DAW's clock, specifically within Ableton and Logic. We go over how to make the physical MIDI connections, as well as the software configurations within both DAWs. Along the way, we provide examples that demonstrate how useful it can be to sync Microcosm's effects to the tempo of a project.

Note: You may have the ability to compensate for any delay in the clock signal being sent. However, it's worth pointing out that latency here could be attributed to several different things - hardware latency, software latency/recording delays, or truly a delay in the clock signal being sent. Latency can vary based on how CPU intensive your project is, so most of the time, it's easier to compensate for any latency/delay by simply dragging recorded audio to match with the grid.

So I just came here to figure out how to clock my Microcosm in FL studio (which I realise now this vid ain't gonna give me haha) and I have my microcosm plugged in... it therefore applied Arp C to the audio in this video (and tbh is sounded killer). Thanks for such an amazing bit of kit!

I don’t know how you get volume from it past %50 mix. On mine I can hardly get useable audio from it in the higher mix %, even cranking its gain in a mixer.

I am honestly such a novice, though I am learning quick. But my question, sincerely, is what is the benefit of syncing the clock with the DAW? Are we better able to have Microcosm stutters coincide with our tracks rhythms? How would you describe the benefits? I feel like this is a meta question, but I would love some feedback on this question. (big luv 🌶 to this pedal)

In other words: I have just successfully synced this in Ableton & Logic, and I can't yet notice any real noticeable difference. I believe this is because I don't know what I should be listening for, could you help explain?
