i feel like most spells are relly poorly balanced when it comes to overcasting their ither never worth it or only good if overcasted like heart of winter where the base version isn't worth casting but for a few extra winds it becomes relly good

I find only buffs/debuffs that become AoE on overcast are worth it.

Doing the math, blue fire overcast only becomes mana efficient AFTER enemy units reach 135 armor ish. And even the tankiest units cap at 125 armor but technically yes, overcasting on a full HP rogue idol will give more value lol.

By my rough calculations, you're going from 20AP + 50Base to 40AP + 50Base. Meaning you need 90% damage reduction on base dmg for the AP increase to be worth the extra 4 WOM. 90% reduction happens at 125 armor normally but warpflame ups that by +10. I ignored explosive damage since the ratio is close enough to the normal missile damage.

I do hate how awful the tooltips in these games have been/ continue to be. like whats wrong with having actual numbers in the damned things?!

Though thanks to the barrier miscasting really isn't a issue unless you lost the barrier already.

Love the clips dude. I play very rarely but enjoy watch people with actual skill play

I've done a bit of testing and even against 0 armor units the result vary a lot. Sometimes the base version, did more damage than the upgraded and sometimes the upgraded tripled the damage of the base version.

Cost from 5 to 9 is an 80% increase.
Base spell 50 base damage + 20 piercing. Explosion 30 base damage and 10 piercing. Total 80 base + 30 piercing.
Upgraded 50 base damage + 40 piercing. Explosion 30 base damage and 20 piercing. Total 80 base + 60 piercing.
In order for the damage to have the same cost efficiency the average damage reduction needs to be roughly 90%, which is something only units with way more than 100 armor can do.
So yes overcasting this spell is bad from damage cost efficiency (also less up time from passives during casting), but the method in the video is just as bad as casting the upgraded spell.

The only reason for overcasting is if you really need the burst damage.

These are helpful but I don't know how I'm gonna hold all this stuff in my brain all the time

Love your videos. So niche and in depth.

Enticity is the reason I started actually using blue fire of tzeentch and it's so good. Kairos is practically a ranged unit with that thing

Tzeentch doesn't lie. Not outright at least...

I mean, it's technically not a lie... It's just a negligible increase. The basic description that doesn't clarify how much of an increase is right up Tzeentch's alley.

I mean, 700 dmg is a ca 40% increase in damage and 13 winds of magic instead of 9 is a tiny bit more than 40% winds of magic increase. You get the exact same value in terms of raw damage.

Can you do a tzeentch army build guide? Like a series no one is doing them. If I was high enough skill cap I would do them myself

I mean, it doesn't lie. It does give increased AP, technically just +1 ap is more AP damage. Technically.

I have played the Total Warhammer Games for aroumd 1000 hours put together.
I didn't know you could overcast spells.
