I find this both heartbreakingly sad and strangely inspiring at the same time.

Jimmy Page in an interview was asked why he never continued to pursue a career in music after the end of Led Zeppelin, said, "the magic was gone".

The artist is the vessel of what needs to be spoken or expressed. What he's saying is the time, the place, the thoughts, the feelings, the zeitgeist moved through him.

It's called being young and full of wonder, you loose that when you get older you don't seem to wonder about stuff because you know more. Inspiration comes with the desire to discover and know what something feels like. He became famous, got his point across job done. All desire fulfilled. Thanks for the music Bob

That's an artist with no ego... but an artist who has given more to his generation than almost any other, in terms of expression.. when we needed words, he found them for us.. in a lyrical form we could sing... we were all touched by his greatness... thank you

I've heard this a lot. Many songwriters say similar. They connect with the universe at some point. Mccartney says they come to him in his sleep. Others say they fish them out of the eternal river . I've also heard " If I didn't write it, someone else would have" . Those songs are out there, just waiting to be heard by the writer .

It is said many times that a young person has an old soul. It is rarely said that an old person has a young soul. It's difficult to go through life without becoming a little jaded. I think it is possible but you really need to work on having a curious and playful spirit. Bob truly was born extremely bright and with the gift of an old soul. I for one am grateful for that.

It's insane how he wrote so many masterpieces at such a young age

There is nothing more beautiful in life than to look back at some amazing achievement and wonder how you could even do such a thing. A legend in your own eyes.

As a 34 year old man who was writing songs in his early teens, when you write a song it's like a snapshot of where you are emotionally, logically, spiritually at that time in your life. Life changes your perspective over the years.

Sometimes we become more creative, sometimes we become less. Back when I was a teenager all the way into my early 20's, I wrote songs almost exclusively about breakups but then I lost my mom and since then I have realized that nobody is entitled to happiness and sometimes life is just cruel and there's nothing you can do about it but heal as best you can and hope the next disaster doesn't sweep what's left of you away.

Anyway, when I wrote it was almost always to explore how I felt about something that moved me and at 34, nothing much moves me anymore. You eventually become cynical to protect yourself from pain and that pain has always been where my songwriting has come from. Now, the question I struggle with is whether the pain is worth the inspiration when I'm already just barely hanging on as it is.

I'm not sure if Dylan's problem is the same as mine, but my point is that as you get older and learn more about yourself and the world around you, there's less wonderment about why things are the way they are and you become more critical of your own takes.

Oh, my! I would sooo love to meet this man. I've always wanted to meet Bob Dylan. Just to talk with him would be a trip. I have almost all of his music/poetry. Magic!

This man changed my life, he is everything to me and many millions more, I'm always trying to do a number of his & I try to do as best as I can in respect of beautiful poetry
A friend of mine does stunning covers, but no one can really do Dylan like Dylan
I get overwhelmed to this day by his timeless songs
It's easy to call legend's Gods etc, but in this case I'll make an exception
Because of Dylan I'm a better man & I discovered his music as a child, a school teacher who played his music in lessons on a guitar at my junior school
Most of the kids were to busy looking at her lovely face, but I remember it like it was yesterday 1968
And now I still play Dylan everyday of my life
At the moment I'm into World Gone Wrong
Covers I know but his amazing voice & attention to his playing is sublime

The 60s were a magical time. There will never be a better time for musical creativity! I'm so glad I got to witness it as a teenager!

The most humble explanation of greatness I’ve heard in a long, long time!!! I believe, anyone who has ever been connected in the creative process, completely understands what he’s talking about!!! It truly is an awesome experience!! I truly hope that everyone will get to experience it as well!!

I always felt the Bob's music and lyrics always asked his listener to be grateful for their humanity. I'm always glad to be alive when I hear a Bob Dylan song.

The best stuff you will ever write will just flow out of you with almost no conscience at all, a fast one take pen doesn’t stop until the final punctuation. That’s what Dylan is saying, you just have to be present when a masterpiece presents its self.

Bob Dylan sang from his heart. He felt something and he wrote about it. He was as free as the wind. .He's Bob Dylan, he's a legend. He put words to music and he made hits.

Dylan gave us everything he had. And he’s still giving. This is a rare case where we get to see an extraordinary artist actually live out and fulfill his complete promise. Because if he died in 1967 we would all be saying… If only he had lived, what profound poetry he could’ve shared with us. Every artist and every human being goes through ages stages and phases… And Dylan has had some hits and misses… But it’s been a blessing to have him… A living national treasure. and the human being just living out his life and finding new ways of being creative. God bless Bob Dylan.❤

Dylan was smart and highly educated. Those are the two ingredients to write complex songs.
