The Goonies (1985) - 'Fratelli Chase'/Opening scene [1080]

Dave Grusin hasn't scored many adventure films, but he had a dream project back in his prime, with the Steven Spielberg-produced childhood classic. The film elicits waves of nostalgia in those who enjoyed it back when it was released, but it is quite flawed on closer inspection, and may make for painful adult viewing. This opening sequence is both a wonderful chase scene, as well as a clever introduction to the main characters.

Fun Fact: The two actors who played the Fratelli brothers (Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano) would go on to voice characters in the Grand Theft Auto series. Joe would voice Luigi Goterelli in GTA 3 and Robert would voice Juan Garcia Cortez in GTA Vice City.

Only two of them even noticed that anything was going on: Chunk, who no one would believe, and Rosalita, who no one could understand.
Poor Rosalita's first day in town, nearly gets killed in a police chase, and then goes to work for some weird drug cartel with lots of kids around. Imagine what was going on in her mind!

This intro is master class in screenplay. 5 minutes in and you've met all the characters, know something about all of them and are hooked the main plot with the Fratelli's. Born in 1977 I built most of my personality upon this movie.
