Consumer Confidence and Investor Sentiment refer to measures of investor perceptions of the economy, the stock market and their financial situation.

By using indicators related to Consumer Confidence, specifically the Consumer Confidence Index as well as the Yale Investor Behavior Projects' survey questions (1 year outlook, buy the dip, crash likelihood, stock market valuation) investors can get an idea of the outlook for the US economy and the stock market as perceived by consumers as well as individual and institutional investors. Investor Sentiment as measured through the AAII survey can similarly be used to further the evidence for the outlook of the US economy and stock market by way of their surveys on the Bullish, Bearish and Neutral forecasts of the stock market.
