BMW E46 Vert CSL SMG Tune & VANOS Rattle Update

A quick update the old mans E46 M3. The vanos rattle seems to be pretty gone, which is great news. However i thought while the car was here for the day, i'd flash the E46 CSL SMG flash on to it.

The tune improvements are initial takeoff either forward and reverse and manual downshifts are much better with rev match.

Ahh the squeaks of the E46 convertible, drove me absolutely crazy when I had mine couple years back.

You need the CSL engine tune - also I was under the impression after flashing the CSL gearbox tune you had to run gearbox adaptation.

I suspect there will be a much more perceptible difference in the S6 mode. I've driven this transmission a lot and there is no point driving in anything but S5 100% of the time, including when you're shooting for full comfort/cruise mood. But back to the S6 one, the shift lights, and the launch control... those are all only available with DTC fully off and the 1-2 shift is like getting rear-ended by a truck. Love to see more stuff on this car. My dad has a silver one just like this but with the 19"s. I'll eventually get my hands on it.

Horrific and e46 M3 shouldn’t be in the same sentence 😅 Plus does anyone actually drive their smg in auto… manual shifts only for the win! Any chance we are getting e46 M3 merch? I’d be all over that 🔥 content is fab as always!

Vanos you don’t want that tab to break off or bolts loose don’t forget upper timing chain guid always broken

You should check out the smg comunity...but yeah I guess a dct will be a big Progression....or try to control the smg with the htg gcu...sb in Holland build an e46 s62b50smg with the components of the e46 on a v8 s6s420g...

I need help trying to pinpoint the right part got code 17 magnetic valve reverse gear I believe is one of the sensors that go on the smg pump

Always loved the S54, the throttle response on that engine is sweet.

Thought it was pretty impressive, surprised you didn't feel much of a difference, perhaps you need to let it adapt, also try manual shifting.

Reprogramming the SMG will not turn this version of the car into a CSL version! Even if you modify the DME MSS54...install a pressure sensor...install an intake receiver with a control flap, this is not enough to get closer to the CSL version! We also need to install camshafts from CSL!!!
