Potato grow wild, like a weed, in my yard. I have never been able to get every little potato out of the ground. There's always a potato plant, or 10, at different growth stages. I harvest all year round, since there's no frost in my area. I can't tell from the plant, what kind of potato is growing in the soil. So it's always a surprise when I dig around. Red, blue, gold, russet....large and small.

Jeff, I’d guess that your quickie video on sprouting potatoes just helped many, many gardeners to produce their own crop at home. Take a bow while I wait for your next video. You rock!

Never thought to grow them individually like pot plants to give them an early start then moving them on 👍🏻 that’s brilliant- game changer!!! Thanks Jeff

Thank you, this is just what I was looking for. This is the best easiest video. I want to experiment with growing potatoes in winter in my unheated greenhouse. Potatoes are not as sensitive as many thinks. When I lived up north I accidentally left a few potatoes in the ground and come spring I was shocked to see some growing, enough to have them for lunch. :)

Man, I've looked everywhere for seed potatoes this year and can't find any. Usually, the bag I buy from the store sprouts, but of course they aren't when I actually need them too. Lol. Thanks for the video.

They are actually very pretty house plants. I grow them in the house. In water only. I have 2 going that i take babys from. Started them when "you covered sweet potatoes 10 months a go" just to see if I could start them. Looked so pretty i couldnt toss them...

Thanks for the advice as i have not been successful in getting one to grow yet. I got a good size seedling as the potato is sprouting 4 lice looking green shoots that has leaves to absorb sunlight or my grow light in this case as last frost is not here yet. But i stuck a full potato into a ice-cream bucket to do it, oh and before i forget the final frost where i live is march 15th so on the 16t of feb i can go ahead and plant it in the ground as 4 weeks before the last frost should be fine or i can wait till march.

What i wanna do is produce flowers on the potato plants that way i can get a potato berry so i can have true potato seeds and try to get those to sprout. I know it is not necessary to do and a lot of people don't want true potato seeds as high chance of different potatoes types from them but i wanna learn and there is nothing better than experience, and yes i know potatoes grown from the true seeds grow slower. Also yes i know i can buy true seeds cheap but i wanna grow my own

Though i do know how to cook the solanine out of the berries to be at a safe to ingest levels for people however they will taste bland, and solanine tastes earthy which yes i ate a few clovers before which you are supposed to wash those off first before eating otherwise eating a clover or a few is safe as micro greens. But i did not wash em off properly so i tasted earth and was well shitting my guts out for a afternoon because too much solanine and yes i drunk water as i was losing too much.
