The Day of Atonement

Показать описание
Yom Kippur is known as the most sacred holiday of the Jewish year. On this day, Leviticus teaches us that the High Priest would pour the blood of a bull and goat on the alter in the Holy of Holies- the most holy place in the Tabernacle. He did this on behalf of all of Israel. When the Lord saw the blood on the alter He would overlook and forgive the sins of the Children of Israel.
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement."
-Leviticus 17:11
Blood shed is a symbol of a life that's been given. Hebrews 9 tells us that the blood offered up to the LORD by the High Priest was a foreshadow of the blood of Jesus. It is by the shed blood of Jesus that we are forgiven once and for all! Praise God
