BIM really was oversold, especially to MEP. Everyone was expected to just switch to Revit overnight, use it out of the box and be 100% productive with it. Designers hated it because they were never given the time to develop standards or even figure out basic functions like schedules. I love using Revit but you've got to climb that learning curve and it's steep. There are lots of engineering firms out there that have been using Revit for 10 years and still haven't climbed it.

BIM is not difficult for architects because it is closer to how we think when designing. Changing the 'M" from "modelling' to 'management' was a mistake as building information management is, apparently, VDC (virtual document control?). Both are only tools for implementing Integrated Project Design and Construction.
