It’s so stinkin wild how a song can grab you and immediately transport you back to a time in your past you didn’t even realize you longed for. I’m having a moment; talk amongst yourselves, fam ….

Great band from Australia and a classic from 1987! I also recommend their song ‘Crazy’.

Such a classic! Another excellent song of theirs is "Great Southern Land". "No Promises" is another one, oh and "Hey, Little Girl". Damn, guess I'm going down that old 80s rabbit hole today!

Great reaction, guys. This song was actually cowritten by the one and only John Oates (the backing vocals give it away). Icehouse was another great Aussie export with INXS and others and this whole album, Man of Colours, is fantastic, and if you liked this, I highly recommend "Crazy" and "Touch the Fire." And yes, Iva Davies had quite possibly the most spectacular mullet ever!

This song brings back great memories from younger days. It's a great tune that just flows with energy. You would also enjoy their song "Crazy".

I never get tired of this song. Don't know what it is, but it all comes together for me and I just have to stop whatever I'm doing and immerse myself in the whole sound. I could listen to this on repeat all day.

I remember when this charted in 1987. One day, it was there on America's Top 10 with Kasey Kasem. Used to watch every Saturday morning. Another Icehouse song to check out, "No Promises" from 1985. Iva Davies, what a voice.

This was a big hit in Australia and overseas. I'm glad you discovered them! My favorite of theirs is "Great Southern Land". ❣

"Hey Little Girl" is the one that I would listen to over and over in the mid 80s. One of my favorites from that time.

Aaah Yes, Love this song! Just takes me back to those days in the 80's where many alternative bands could just do no wrong. Every Ice House song I ever heard on the radio just seemed to resonate with me for some reason. As others have said, "No Promises" and "Crazy" are two other really good Ice House tunes I'd recommend.

Very clever arrangement and instrumentals and I love Iva Davies' vocals...in addition to his glorious mullet. "Great Southern Land" is another great Icehouse song from 1982, which is a tribute to their homeland, Australia. In 1999 Iva was commissioned by the City of Sydney to create a musical score to ring in the new millennia. He reworked Great Southern Land into a wonderful 20 minute piece he dubbed "The Ghost of Time" is definitely worth a watch.

Forgot about this song. Hearing it really does transport you back to the 80s. Quintessential 80s. I listen to other 80s hits and remember hearing them. I hear this and feel like I am there again.

One of the songs that takes you right back to the 80's (if you lived in the era). I always loved this one.

Another one from the 80s that is wonderful but underrated is “Waiting for a Star to Fall” by the band “Boy Meets Girl”.

Great Southern Land by Icehouse is also a lovely tune. I'm Aussie, Melbourne born and still here. I used to listen to these guys a lot in the 80's.

John Oates, of Hall and Oates, co-wrote “Electric Blue” with Icehouse lead singer Iva Davies. He said it would have been on Hall and Oates’ next album if Icehouse hadn’t used it.

I can just hear Daryl Hall singing “I just and Oates with the “I. Just. Freeze.”

Great 80s hit! 🔥😎 It was co-written by John Oates of Hall & Oates, and he also provides backing vocals. 🎤 More cool songs from Icehouse: "Crazy", "Cross The Border", "No Promises", and "We Can Get Together"

Glad you finally discovered another great Aussie band! (Still waiting for you to add Hoodoo Gurus and The Church to your list) Icehouse was big in the US in the 80s, and this was one of their later hits (1987). In fac, it was their only Top 10. However, I think you would absolutely LOVE "No Promises". It's sultry, mysterious, melodic, and it perfectly showcases Iva Davies' incredible range. Some more of their great tunes are "Crazy", "Hey Little Girl", and "My Obsession". I can also recommend songs by other "House" bands... "Heaven Said My Name" by Crazy House; "Pearl" by Chapterhouse; "I Don't Know Why I Love You" by The House of Love; "Happy Hour" by The Housemartins; and "Jump Around" by House of Pain.

🤘❤🤘 Fun reactions y'all. I was 15 when this song came out in 1987. The vibe definitely takes me back. The '80s were so special in so many ways.
