Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called on newly elected Speaker Om Birla to ensure that the Opposition is allowed to voice the concerns of the people in the House, stating that running the House without those opposed to the government's views is "non-democratic".

Gandhi, who was appointed as LoP on Tuesday, congratulated Birla on his election to the post of Lok Sabha Speaker for a second term and expressed hope that the Speaker would fulfill his duty by allowing the Opposition to speak.

When opposition parties constantly talking about "attack on Constitution and democracy" it looks natural for us the people there is nothing wrong done by the Speaker of Loksabha. If anybody says like TMC MP, that it was past, then the independence was also in the past, then Congress should not talk about getting the freedom and posing as custodians of Constituition and Democracy.
