Just found you guys and I’ll be watching more! Fun to see a mother daughter having fun. I, too, am a Maisie Dobbs fan and have read them all. My advice is don’t rush because you’ll find you’ve read them all and then you won’t want them to be over! I live in Kingston on the Kitsap peninsula and can definitely relate to your mom having floss from many years ago when all we had was DMC and bobbins and there’s no way I’m putting hundreds of my bobbins on floss rings🙄. As I’ve accumulated new flosses, I do put them on floss rings as I prefer to not have the kinky threads, but I would rather stitch than transfer all those old ones. I lost my best “friend” to cancer a few years ago and she loved to stitch as well. Hope there is stitching in Heaven!

Happy New Year! It looks like you all have been busy stitching. Some of my projects also make me feel like I spent a lot of time and don't have much progress to show for it. I just try to remember that every stitch adds up. I use the DMC Stitchbow system. It has long flexible plastic pieces that you put the whole skein on, so no bobbinating. It works well but the cost of bows, plastic sleeves to put the bows in adds up. If I was to start again, I'd probably use the flossaway bags with numeral dividers in a box. Each system has advantages and disadvantages, good luck! Thank you for taking the time for your channel. Take care and stitch on!

Yup, I use the DMC Bow system! And they fit in little vinyl sleeves and go in a binder! I'll send yall an image :)

Happy New Year 🍾 that’s crazy how long that package took to get to you Kim 😟, they were both mailed at the same time. Kim, I just love the color of that green fabric 💚 so sweet. You’ve also done a lot of stitching on lots of different projects. Your plans look well thought out, organized and manageable. Things of Winter is coming along nicely. I am struggling to count carefully from one motif to the next. Poor Sarah, what you’ve done is mix up 3022 and 647. But I think you have a fantastic solution for your sweater. And showing your daughter that we all make mistakes that need redoing hopefully will make her feel better about her frogging. I really don’t like how the floss on bobbins gets so kinky. I’ve really noticed how it makes my stitches look so messy. I also really like how I can pull a single strand off a thread drop. What I’ve done is bought a ton of cheap cardboard gift tags 🏷 on Amazon. They have a tiny hole at the top end and a heart shaped hole at the other. Then I got snack size baggies from the grocery store ( cheaper than floss away bags). I put the thread on the gift tag, put it nicely in the snack bag, label the bag with the corresponding number and then store the bags in a dollar store box. It definitely takes time but if you work on it slowly, a few flosses per project at a time, you slowly get there. I’ll also organize a few few if I’m just too tired to stitch/knit/quilt. But you have to do what works for you.
The book I’m about to start is called The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi.
P.S. I am so grateful for the concept of FlossTube 😊💚 and the companionship it has brought to the lonely days. Each new person I’ve met virtually I really consider a friend 🙋‍♀️

I enjoy reading too, and love to talk about books! I just read two by Elizabeth Goudge an old author but a favorite of mine. I read A City of Bells, and it’s sequel, The Blue Hills. Although the Blue Hills changed into a fairy tale and was really good and different.
I like the friend stitch. So pretty. Thank you.
