Awesome job Wendell. This highlights one of the key aspects I have always liked about ASRock. Their Z670 boards (and others) were panned by reviewers for not having enough USB connectivity, fast forward to their newest offerings and they have heard the complaints and done what their customers want. They always try to keep up with the needs of their users.

I love the cooling design on this, the raw aluminum look really appeals to me. I guess we will see how it stacks up against the competition soon enough.

Finally motherboard companies agree in having no need for 7.1 output jacks, that's probably reserve for less than 1% of users I imagine.
I'm always curious if they can drive top end-headsets, they have improve a lot but not many people bother testing headsets from 30-600 Ohms impedance to see if they are up to the task.
Can't wait to see a 7800x3D version on those Ryzen in the near future.

Great to see this motherboard reviewed, it is the motherboard that I had already identified as the (X670) that I am most interested in, that is, if I decide to buy now rather than to wait for the Zen 5 CPU's.

My ASROCK x670e steel legend and Ryzen 7 7700x just failed. Both motherboard and CPU failed after 10 months no issues what so ever. Just leaving this here for those considering this for an AM5 board. System was on an UPS and not manually overclocked. So far RMA approved without issue from ASROCK and AMD.

I'd like to add some comments. First of all ASRock has identified an issue with the memory sticker not coming off properly. ASRock will allow RMAs for anyone with this issue. Secondly on page 37 of the manual this shows you how to clear the CMOS with a jumper. ASRock forgot to put a jumper in the box so you can't clear the CMOS. Thirdly, the GPU bracket may not work for all PC cases especially if you have a bar/bracket next to the GPU slot. Fourth, the M.2 slot next to the primary PCIe video card slot will only accept M.2 SSDs that do not have a large heatsink. If your M.2 has a large heatsink your video card may not go all the way down into the slot as it will hit the M.2 heatsink. ASRock should have made a CMOS reset button instead of a CMOS jumper.

This is the motherboard I grabbed, it was great value (in comparison to other x670e motherboards, still expensive). I think Asrock did a great job with this board. Those heatsinks are chonky, and I definitely plan on overclocking so that'll be great. Thanks for covering it!

I love that this board has a pcie full slot right st the bottom thats conected direct to CPU.

Now my 10GB NIC bypasses the chipset.

Only complaint is no clear cmos button, and no 2 digit error code... But for some reason motherboard manufacturers across the board have ddrcided these are $600+ features for some reason.

Initial releases of CPU, memory and motherboards seems to be fine. But I would prefer to wait at least 6 months before buying all this new stuff. Windows might need some updates to optimize it all too.
