Speaking of acid, seems the animators are off of it recently.

Acid rain was a big concern back in the 1970’s and 80’s but has largely been mitigated now.

That’s actually a really good way to explain the process

Cars don't use much nitrated fuel except for nox, if you've put that after market mod into your car. Nitrates Contribute almost nothing to acid rain. Also, we've been removing the sulphates from gasoline/petrol, and capturing it from industrial production with fossil fuels for the last 3 decades or so. The sulphates were the cause of acid rain, but it has been much less of a problem in recent years because of how little sulphur we emit now.

Its not the case recently. Most cars are equipped with exhausts which perform adsorption techniques. Basically it takes all the harmful pollutants and converts it into not so harmfull (compared to the original pollutants )carbon dioxide, water and oxygen gas . Remind you that nowadays using pure petrol is not allowed (atleast in my country) as it contains lead with poisons the device which is used for this purpose . Thats why you mostly get unleaded fuel in the gas station

I'm not sure but I think that acid rains aren't that much of an issue now (at least here in CZ). My dad told me that fields got enough sulfur from the rain but now they have to add it to maintain some levels or something. Basically, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

It also happens in volcanic areas where sulphur dioxide from the crater and fumaroles dissolve into rain
