My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about disability, neurodiversity and what its like living with Tourette's Syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Orthostatic Hypotension. Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition causing involuntary movements called tics.
I use my social media (TikTok, YouTube and Instagram) to advocate and raise awareness for my conditions and show what it is like living with a disability as a neurodivergent person.
I am also autistic and share my sensory struggles along with my experiences with mental health disorders.
I show what its like having a disability and the accomodations I have to help my daily life. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user showing my life using mobility aids and how chronic illness symptoms change from day to day!
I am also a musician with a popular song called "She's Mine" available on all streaming services - I wrote, produced, mixed and mastered all my songs myself! I am also an artist and a writer. I love reading and I'm currently writing a novel and a book about my life!

My suggestion is to look in the camping section, usually camping plates are plastic and they come in normal colors

omg, or metal cutlery scraping across a ceramic bowl. it's worse than nails on a blackboard for me

Wooden cutlery looks mature, plus it’s more sustainable. They also make wooden plates but that might still be a sensory problem, but luckily plastic plates don’t have the problem plastic cutlery has as far as only being made for kids. About half my plates are plastic.

Oh same, I tense up every time I’m expecting it. I have been seeing around bamboo plates, bowls and stuff like that and they are adult sized and look really nice, no peppa big for sure!

Sound is my biggest sensory issue by far. I was once in a charity meeting and one of those fans were on that hum slightly, and that combined with the host’s voice alone nearly sent me into overstimulation shut-down. If I hadn’t been smart and brought my fidgets, I would’ve started crying in front of everyone

Relatable.. this is why I love my wooden bowls and spoons and chopsticks ❤ there are some new eco plates made from plant fibres, they're lightweight, colourful or patterned or plain, sometimes for camping but also sometimes just as an eco option

I'm glad you posted this, I'm learning so much and by reflecting more on my patterns

YES. I hate when a metal fork scrapes across a glass plate. It's horrible, and I also dislike unloading the dishwasher, it's so loud!

I bought a fantastic picnic set for adults: plates, bowls, mugs from A*az*n very satisfying with high quality plastic cutlery to avoid that stainless steel cutlery scraping sound (even on plastic). I told my picnic guests who insisted on taking the ceramic plate path, “go & eat behind that tree a couple of hundred feet over there!” Felt a bit bad about it afterwards :-/

I’m sensory sensitive and I CANNOT deal with noise either. I sympathize with you completely❤ love your content btw!

Thanks! This topic means so much to me as an autistic person who has sensory processing issues.

PREACH!
Sensory sensitivity is huge for me.
I've seen that camping and picnic sets are a good choice. ❤

I am getting a cutlery and dish set from mainstay, they have a line that is like a nice plastic but not like crazy smooth. Love the textures and sound and they are microwave and dishwasher safe.

I'm the same but with a lot of fabrics! A few cottons, linens, some wools...its almost painful to touch them. Sends extreme chills through my body like when you unintentionally bit an icecream/icypole wooden stick (if you know what I mean!)

I’m also sensory sensitive which I didn’t know was a real thing for the longest time. I had to go through sm therapy trying to get over it. I have grown and come a long way, I can do a lot more than I used to❤

Off topic but yes!

I agree tho. I love plastic utensils

oh my god, i have the same prob... i think it's misophonia or something. normalising plastic dishes will safe a lot of ears from torture👌👀

I think it’s called Misophonia
strong reaction to specific sounds.
Misophonia may cause a reaction to sounds such as dripping water, chewing, snapping gum or repetitive noises, such as pencil tapping.

Look at the picnick section in the supermarket in summer. Lots of fun plastic plates and cutlery.
