What'll Happen To My Favorite Planted Tank??

Today we talk about pulling the plug on my favorite planted tank... The CO2 plug! Lots of aquarium plants including Monte Carlo that makes up our trees require added CO2 to thrive. Unfortunately, that thriving plant will eventually become too large and kind of wreck our aquascape. I'm going to try and just remove the CO2 injection and hopefully slow everything down so I can enjoy this tank for longer... We shall see! :)

The last comment I made on here is about the same time
I landed in the hosp, for the next 5 mons & just after I had
gotten my 75 gal tank set up to watch grow.

I came home from the hosp 5 mons later & my aquarium
was a MESS ! ! ! husband didn't do a thing but feed the fish
no water changes just 2-3 gal top off every so often ? ?

The flipping snails have taken over the tank O M G !
hubby wasn't thinking when he took my kitchen apart
& now that I'm back on my feet again to do things, I can't.

So the tank needs a OVER HALL & can't do a thing to it
till I can get my kitchen back where I can do something
but believe it or not the fish are doing great, I d k how?

I'm sure glad I got the rainbow shiners when I did along
with the yo-yo loaches & the Cory catfish cause that's
all that's keeping the tank as clean & clear as it is now.

I've been working on it as much as I can till I can tare
it completely down & start over again cause I have
some over grown plant's that need to be worked on.

Hey mike. I used to be a welder and spent a lot of time in shops. Always close the bottle before the solenoid. If you turn it back on, open the tank with the solenoid fully closed. When opening a bottle for the first time, crack the valve open for like 1/8 a second. Blows out any dust or debris that might end up in the solenoid once attached. Hopes this helps.

With staghorn algae I've noticed a more even and decent current in my aquariums helped me beat staghorn algae

This was a great video, and loving the looks of that tank.

The baby powder alcohol mixture will keep them off your potatoes but they'll still be around. Diametis chalk will kill insects but is made from freshwater shellfish. Always do your own research but I don't see it dehydrating the fishes.

I have a 30 gallon cube tank. Today I decided to reset it. I had wall to wall plants. I found 5 baby ember tetras while taking it apart. Should have left alone.

Put a thin layer of Vaseline on the entry point up to your tank. Which I'm guessing is a cord. Once you stop them from going on to the tank then you can put bait down. We get ants in our dining room and this year we used Terra gel. I found the entry point in my dining room, put the gel down and I haven't seen any more. Took about a good 2 weeks for it to all take effect but I'm happy with the results because this was 2 months ago

I saw higrophila pinnatifida in this video, and I reminded me about my problem with this plant, failed many times, after I planted it It stays for a while then starts melting and eventually die.while othee plants just doing good.
So have you faced this problem before? What is its deal, how you keep it?

I'm in the opposite boat actually so this video still helped. I have a Monte Carlo carpet im attempting to grow out in a 75 gallon tank. I think it's time I add some CO2. It's been growing but very slowly I really want to see it go crazy.

in regards to the ant problem, i watch antscanada and he prevents ants from escaping by using baby powder on the vivairiums at the edges cause the ants wont cross it. i would suggest checking it out as it might keep ants away from your potatoes :D

If you were to move the potatoes to the other tank you could create/buy a trellis for the vines to grow up and attach to.

Nice! Good luck with the algae issue. I think I have my big tank (75g) balanced now. I only find green spot on the glass and not much of that these days.

I don't bother with co2 cause of risk it has, I rather use easy green & root tabs.

Ants are sometimes an indication that there are aphids present on plants.
