Weezer - All My Favorite Songs (Official Video)

During the summer of COVID-19 we grabbed our masks, hit the studio & began to chip away at what is now known as OK Human. An album that was made by a handful of humans using only analog technologies (including a 38 piece orchestra) for all of you humans to consume.

OK Human was made at a time when humans-playing-instruments was a thing of the past. All we could do is look back on ancient times when humans really mattered and when the dark tech-takeover fantasy didn’t exist. We used our instruments to connect to the 1960’s and 1970’s and, with the orchestra, back to the 18th and 19th centuries. We had no click track or loops or hi-tech sounds. Not even an electric guitar.

LYRICS

All my favorite songs are slow and sad
All my favorite people make me mad
Everything that feels so good is bad, bad, bad
All my favorite songs are slow and sad
I don’t know what’s wrong with me
I don’t know what’s wrong with me

I love parties but I don’t go
Then I feel bad when I stay home
‘Cause I need a friend when I take a walk
I like spacing out when somebody talks
I wanna be rich but I feel guilty
I fall in love with everyone who hates me

Dreamy morning
Walking along by myself
Thinking about life
Trying’ to find my way through hell
Sometimes I wish I was on an island
But then I’d miss the sound of sirens

I don’t know what’s wrong with me

In his review, Fantano said this song could've had more details about the sadness Rivers is feeling, but I personally feel like this is one of Rivers' most honest songs cause the man isn't trying to come up with a complex and intricate metaphor about his life, he's just sad the way we all are sometimes. We all have those things that we feel guilty about loving. And if most of us were to write a song about those feelings it would sound kinda like this cause it's not too clever or too technical, it's just fun

I really like the direction OK Human is taking. I can't believe it's 2021 and we're getting two awesome Weezer albums this year.

So I auditioned for the role of the kid in the video. I got a callback and the casting director said he loved my audition. But I actually didn’t get the part after all. And even tho I didn’t get the part I’m still very happy for the kid that got it. Good job man. Great video!

It's good! Jake Sinclair knows exactly what he's doing, super pumped for the rest of the album. It could be amongst their best.

I'll never understand how Weezer lyrics can be so basic and so brilliant at the same time.

Man, like 20 years ago I used to be on the Weezer message boards before green came out, and we'd organize Weezerfests. I was supposed to host with this girl named Nicole who was going to make cakes? I wasn't able to get to Chicago to host. We chatted for a long time on AIM, I wrote a song for our non-bullshit world we dreamed of. I hope you are well, Nicole. I really enjoyed our time we never spent together.

“I love parties, but I don’t go, then I feel bad when I don’t go”

I don’t think I’ve ever related so much to one line like this. All my social anxiety bros know what I mean

They came through in the clutch. OK Human might just be awesome, I trust Jake Sinclair with the production even more after this, it's a subtle smash!

But is THIS a “slow, ” or “sad, ” song?

Either way, a new favorite.

My favorite lyrics, "cause I need a friend when I take a walk, I like spacing out when somebody talks". Since this song has so much themes of depression I think that sums it up perfectly. When depressed you'd want someone there for you someone to listen, but depression and anxiety can consume one's thoughts so much so you're spaced zoned out not hearing out what that friend could be saying. You're so lost in the thoughts of depression saying otherwise to whatever they're trying to consolidate you with.

I love how the lyrics are about depression but instrumentally its so optimistic. It's almost as if the song is telling you you can get through this!

Van Weezer was the sound people were missing. OK Human is the sound people didn't know they needed.

And another absolute banger to add to weezer’s ever growing song list.

This song is going to blow up because the lyrics hit harder than you wanted them to.

Can’t tell if Rivers has quarantine hair, or just another wacky aesthetic he’s trying out.

You know it’s a good Weezer song when Brian sings backing vocals.

How does Weezer not make it to radio rotation?
This is such a catchy song that’s perfect for radio but they never seem to get any mainstream play.
Just odd to me.

Edit: MAINSTREAM RADIO. Like stations that constantly play Arianna Grande. Not talking about local or alt stations.
