How to Mud - A visual tutorial - Second coat of mud

Показать описание
The first coat of mud has dried, and I've come back to do the 2nd.
Using blue mud to contrast the red dyed mud we used for the first coat, we can see the different layers and how they work together to begin forming the smooth, flat, finish we're trying to achieve.

This is a 3 coat application, where we use coloured mud in hopes to visualize each layer.
Red for the first coat
Blue for the second
White for the third

Enjoy!

Appreciate you taking the time to explain each step, what you are doing, and why you are doing it.

Really appreciate the detail and explanation you put into this. Others don’t talk about pressure points and what exactly you are trying to accomplish, like you did. Thx- I have to go do some second coat now 😉

This was great. Currently doing our 1 unfinished wall in the garage and there's 2 beams that were done for fire code with 5/8 sheets. We went with 1/2" sheets so how would you do the seams where the 1/2" and 5/8" areas meet?

Great video, though after a quick review, didn't you miss showing us the second coat for a butt joint?

Great video zack! I have to say this is one of the most detailed ones. And I have watched a tonne of videos on second coat. I'm using an 8" curved on my long joints. Is there a particular reason you use the 14" curved?
