Slight correction: The otters at Loutre Otter Cafe are Asian short clawed otters, not sea otters. These otters are fresh water lovers who are naturally at home in and around the banks of rivers and streams. Sea otters are larger and some sea otters never even come to shore. So glad you stopped by the cafe and enjoyed these wonderful little mammals!

They're not Sea Otters. They're River Otters and they are amazing and I'm glad you such a great time meeting them. My favorite Otter which is on my bucket list to see is also from Loutre as well and her name is Odashi!!!

They sure are adorable little creatures and next time I visit Kyoto, I just might drop by to see this cafe as well.
I remember seeing a YouTube channel of a guy in Japan that has a river otter as a pet, he would sometimes take it to a river and swim with it. So cute. 🐾🐾

Awww! They're so cute! This video has blown up too - and rightly so!! I spotted a few cat, Akira, owl and exotic pet cafes whilst travelling around Japan, but not an otter cafe! 😹💖

The ones in the tank are Bob and Namida :) The one on the floor with the big eyes is Papa Oage - it's good to see him too! Wasabi and Namida are his daughters :)
I'm glad you went to Loutre, they are the only ones I would visit because I know how well they treat their otters, and how much they love them <3 It's so important to make sure you only support those who truly look after the welfare of their otters. It's vital to make sure they have not been taken from the wild (which Loutre's have not) because the wild trade causes so much suffering. Luckily it is illegal in Japan and hopefully one day, the world!

Mrs. Goblin is fairly obsessed with otters, so I'm pretty sure if we went there, she would never leave. 🤣 I don't know if you know this, but I was a zookeeper by profession before retiring last year. We had otters, but I wasn't on the otter team, so I didn't interact much with them, but they were always fun to watch. But I was on the hippo/lion/hyena team, so I had plenty of fun things to play with! 😁❤
