Welcome to r/IAmVerySmart part 13 where these smart intellectuals are at it again, where someone thinks that measuring while baking is stupid. *_The textbooks I read are the equivalent of THIRTY UNIVERSITY DEGREES._* 🧐🧐🧐

When I was in school, one of the ways I knew I completely grasped a concept was if I could explain it to someone else in a clear and concise way.

Holy hell, I was in an alcoholics/addicts support group, and we used the term "cognitive dissonance" with less pomp and circumstance than that random "genius" on Reddit.

"I read 3000 books" - there's a difference between reading books and understanding them.
[] My mother used to bake by the "that looks like enough" method of measuring ingredients: I never knew that cakes weren't supposed to be solid until I was in my late teens.

I also hate the argument about "if you use a phone all the time, then you are clearly stupid, go read a paper book" as if I cant log into my library account, find a digital book and download it from a catalogue of thousands or hundreds of thousands. Or can collect any number of PDF/epub/other digital files that I can have depending upon the storage capabilities of the device, hundreds of thousands of files all ready to read, and can change the font size so my horrible close range sight can read them and the backlit display allows me to see it clearly instead of needing to have an external source of light to see it.

The IQ thing always kills me. Me and my brother got tested when we were in school, and both of us scored quite high. But that's it...we had a pretty number and advanced classes in school.
Besides that we're more preoccupied with games and books. Like IQ means so damn little in terms of actual intelligence.

"MeAsUrInG wHiLe BaKiNg Is StUpId" Oh really, intellectuals? Then you try making something without using any sort of recipe or guiding tool. It's not as easy as you THINK it is.
Also, to the guy who claimed he earned 30 college degrees by 18? I call r/ThatHappened on that.

"Ironical" used incorrectly. That's a smart brain right there

Anytime someone starts to boast about how intelligent they are, specifically when they boast some made up IQ I automatically assume they have google open up and are searching big words to make themselves seem more intelligent. I have yet to find anyone who boasts of being highly intelligent who actually demonstrated it in these types of posts.

Any wise baker knows never to be too careless with measurements

Beyond everyone not being a professional Baker... baking is an incredibly exact science sometimes and if you screw up one measurement it will completely change the texture or composition of your dish.

Yeah, I agree. As someone who works in IT, there are a lot of extremely complex things going on in your average PC, but I've never found a concept that couldn't be explained with a metaphor.

Of course, those are only meant to give you a general idea of how a thing works.
Metaphors and simple explanations can't tell you the exact functionality of something, but I really agree with the idea that if you understand something very well, you can explain it in a way that most people understand.

I feel like the people with phones at that family gathering were probably sharing pictures, video, funny memes, etc. with each other, which happens at my family gatherings. That's social interaction, sitting at the table reading a book is not.

The one on the thumbnail didn't account for the cup which adds a little more than what you need. 😂

Signs of a true super-genius:
1. Too intelligent to not speak like a parody of a nerd.
2. Educated enough for every degree and any job on the planet, yet modest enough to settle for minimum wage jobs instead.
3. Could effortlessly cure cancer and solve all the worlds problems, but has more important things to think about.

I used to be a genius and that seems so strange now. I never talked like that when I was though. Still I’m happier with fewer brain cells. lol
