It’s funny that J. J. Abrams didn’t want to copy Darth Vader’s redemption arc for Kylo Ren, even though The Force Awakens is essentially a copy of A New Hope. And Kylo’s suit, mask, and voice are all meant to be copying Darth Vader’s.

Disney messed up the story is an understatement. They never even had an arc planned, they just started carelessly installing movies to a beloved franchise with zero foresight.
