OMG evil Malva trying to break Claire and Jamie up 😢

Malva was as much a victim, as she was being abused and manipulated by her brother. She had a very distorted perception of love and probably presumed Jamie would love her and protect her, from her abusive brother, the way he did Claire.
She was on her way to confess the truth when her brother murdered her.
The irony is the lie would have been revealed once she gave birth as her delivery date would never match with the night she accused Jamie of “taking advantage of her”. Malva was at least three months pregnant by the time Claire was sick.
It would have been at least a couple of months before she’d realised she was pregnant from her brother, and then was ‘carrying-on’ with at least two other men (including Ian) for a few weeks to be able to blame the pregnancy on them, before coming up with the plan to make Claire sick and blame Jamie.
