WotC Removes 'Race' From D&D and Leftists are Still Furious!

WotC made a deal with the devil when they decided to cave and remove the term "Race" and replace it with "Species" in the upcoming next edition of D&D. Now they are seeing what happens to the hand that feeds these vipers.

I love how the one girl states that you could have thousands of different ancestries, and that characters are all unique, like it's a new concept to her. It's just called individualism, and it's the basis for the traditional liberal values that the US was founded on, as well as the bill of rights. It's only now just occurring to her!

They remind me of when I was a kid in the '80s, when my Mom got upset that I liked "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard, because it said "We got the powuh - got the GLO-ray" ...because, "Only Jesus has the power and the glory.😔" ... and of course, how ~PrObLeMaTiC~ the sorcery and demons were in D&D.

Just going to point out again that the ONLY time these folks ever use any form of the word "individual" is in a fantasy gaming context...

As a Canadian of Chinese ethnicity I loathe Daniel for having the gall to think he speaks for all (East) Asians. I've been playing/DMing D&D for about 43 years now (probably longer than he's been alive) and it pisses me off that he's essentially calling me a racist for like Oriental Adventures. As a visible minority nerd in the early 80s I was a social outcast (long before geek was chic as it is today) so I was ecstatic when Oriental Adventures came out because it was a setting (loosely) based on my cultural heritage (mostly the pop culture aspect as in kung fu movies). I didn't find it offensive with cultural appropriation because, as these wokeist would say, I got representation finally in the fantasy genre that was very European-centric.

So what people like Daniel want is for WotC to NOT have another East/South-East Asian centric campaign setting because they could never create something that would satisfy Daniel and his ilk — unless of course they wrote it (note that Daniel's adventure in Candlekeep Mysteries used the kung fu movie tropes that he disparages).

The thing is that just because he looks Chinese doesn't mean his automatically knowledgeable about Chinese culture. I certainly don't because I moved to Canada as a kid and consider myself a "banana" — yellow on the outside and white on the in. If anything they're racist for looking at skin only and not merit (a white cultural historian of Chinese history would know more about China than Daniel but of course he would scream otherwise).

Whatever I see pronouns after someone's name, or someone states their pronouns, I immediately turned them off. Certain hair colors are also a warning sign to me. I love how they say certain things are problematic but they never offer solutions.

"They are not interested in D&D as a game." Spot on Double D. Like you say, it's just another platform in their endless culture war. I feel sorry for anyone trying to play these days. WOTC's D&D has been less than useless to me after 3.5. There's really no need to buy any new WOTC products. Make your own settings and adventures and run your games the way you want, people - with all the forbidden lore and arcane terms you desire.

In the DnD universe orcs and humans can breed, so technically they are the same species lol

I already bounced, my players felt no challenge, progress, or character development with 5E. We’ve since sold our 5E crap and invest in 2E. So far everyone feels actually challenged and story & character development is drive. Loving it
