Turn off the power before doing any testing/repair. I put it into the video in the wrong order 😅

I like your proactive and reactive options! Retired mechanic here. I like proactive!

I don't understand how offering a customer multiple options is in any way ripping them off.
I am a plumber of 45 plus years. I offer my customers multiple options whenever possible .
Keep doing that nice work you do. Thank you for posting these videos

Nothing wrong with options. Anybody saying you're "Scamming people", are not licensed professionals out in the day to day operation of running a business. You deserve to charge whatever you want, and thus, customers should be aware that regardless they're going to be paying a premium for your service, so it's only right to let them pay for your skills carefully! Keep up the good work!

I think it's great you provide options...especially now. Customers are adults...it's nice to have options.👍

I like the extra effort to vacum out the sediment ! Thats a big problem here in florida with well water, and most homes like that have no softener systems or filters .Great job!

Replacing both elements was the right thing to do. You saved the guys electric bill doing that. The upper element had a thick layer of scale/insulation on it. Makes trying heat the water very inefficient. Good call.

I’d change them once every 5 years with hard water. Put an Intermatic timer on it and it should be good for a long time.

Sometimes honesty is the best policy. My customers always love my opinion because I tell them what I would do.
If the Equipment 25 years old, let’s not put X amount of money into it.
If the piece of equipment just went out of its warranty and they’re planning on staying there and yes, let’s fix it.
But if there’s a way you can do water treatment for those people, it would greatly reduce the wear and tear on their plumbing and appliances.
At the least recommend a water treatment company.

Excellent points. Most people aren't capable of doing this themselves, safely. So, repeat calls result in extra charges that have to be considered when making decisions. The goal of doing a little more is to reduce cost over the long term. Along that same line, I'd wonder about the state of the anode rod, and perhaps the dip tube if it has one.

Nice work! I like the options, and I prefer proactive to reactive. 👍🏻👍🏻

As a person with a business you always give customers multiple options, at least they realise what they can get for what they can afford👍

Options are just that Choices. Its UP to them with your provided knowledge. U dont rip people off when You tell them the deal UP front. You do Good Work

He actually isn't scamming them specifically because he's giving them the options. It's like preventative maintenance on a car. You don't have to wait for a tire to blow up or wear down to the cords to replace it.

I'm a DIY'er and for all of you out there that think giving options like this plumber did is "scamming, " I can tell you he's not. Given the option to replace the non-failed one at the same time is the logical and preventative thing to do. It's only a matter of time that the old one would give out if not replaced. Then you have to have ANOTHER visit which will cost more than just adding a replacement element while the plumber is already there. It's like replacing a washer in a hose that you replaced on a water line. Why would you wait until it fails when you're already there for the exact same reason? I would definitely change them both.

Don’t you just love jealous haters trying to tell you what you’re doing for a living any good plumber any good tradesmen it’s going to give the customer options. This is option. One option two option three your choice sign off on it that’s what you do. Great job.
