If you're a uniformed member of an armed force conducting war operations you're a legal and valid target for the enemy. You would be a bit stupid to not understand that when you pull on the uniform in the morning. You know it when you dress. That's it really. No other justification is needed.

The electric scooter is by Kugoo Kirin. Their website says their models have "Innovative features", as General Kirillov found out.

I curse the Russians for doing similar things but praise the Ukrainians.
When fighting for the survival of your democratic Country, against a much larger invading force, headed by a dictator - the gloves are off, the rules of war become rules of survival....and they're very different.
I'm British - we did extremely questionable things in WW2 to survive - and we obviously only know a fraction of our state secrets regarding such things.
In fact, Ukraine is being very restrained in it's defence - I'm not sure how restrained I would be in Zelensky's pressure from Western partners having a large influence I'm sure.

‘Survival beyond ethics.’ That would make an interesting conversation, Vlad.
As always, good to see you and hope are doing ok.
Fyi, I introduced you to a good friend today who loves reading and showed him your ‘Why I love walking, but can’t’ video. He loved it and I think you have a new admirer. :))

Thank you, Vlad, especially for not using the chair. Please take good care of yourself. Lots of love to you and to the Beautiful Community. 🤗

Isn't this also telegraphing Ukraine's intent and capacity to do what the Israeli secret service did to Nazis who escaped justice (and weren't employed by the US defense industry :) after WWII? Couldn't that prospect have a chilling effect on parts of the RU officer corps?

Before the war Ukraine didn't really have a foreign intelligence service like the FSB, MI6, or CIA. This particular Russian general presented a viable target to continue to hone in on skills. The man had recognition, that was a bonus. That Putin's statement was to say that Ukraine would suffer is absurd, as if it's been a cakewalk until now.

"Assassination"? Valid military target during wartime...

Last time I visited the UK in 2006, Litvinienko was poisoned.
Turnabout is fair play.

Best wishes for your health Vlad. My thoughts are that this will be more effective than the mere technicalities. Putin’s regime seems to be similar to a mob organisation, a hierarchy of bullies. Bullies work on the assumption that they won’t get punched back. I think this will shock and scare many of the senior people.

The Times Radio said Kirillov was in charge of nuclear weapons. 🙄

We aren't 100% sure if it was Ukraine.

Putin is so convinced that Russians are all superheroes he periodically throws his advisors out from the window to see if they start flying. Maybe he refused to do something the Great Leader wanted.

That line will turn up in a Liam Neeson movie soon: 'Let's shake the sofa and see what coins fall out!'
You know where you heard it first.

Would you point me to an indepth discussion of the 'ethics of war' please? I fear I'm guilty of not totally understanding why war ethics would differ from ethics in general. Thank you.

Everything is so far down the line and beyond the pale, that this has little meaning.

One obvious thing Ukraine could do is make it clear that they will negotiate with any government that throws Putin out. If they don't commit to that then they aren't tying any damage they do to the current Regime, so what difference does it make?
