Wine review, rating, detailed tasting notes of 2011 Domaine Michel Chapoutier Ermitage De l’Orée White wine by Julien Miquel of Social Vignerons.

Winery information about Chapoutier's Hermitage de l'Orée Blanc:
Grape variety: Marsanne. The old vines (60 to 70 years old) guarantee low yields and a quality production.

Soil: The grapes producing “De l’Orée” come from “Les Murets” plot. This soil is made up with very old fluvioglacial alluvial deposits.

Harvest: Hand harvesting at maturity.

Winemaking: After pressing, the must is cold-settling for around 24 hours. About 50% is vinified in big wooden barrels (600 liters) with regular stirrings of the lees, the rest is in vats.

Maturing: Maturing on lees with regular stirrings for 6 months.
Before bottling, the ageing in casks is checked by frequent tastings. The maturing lasts between 10 and 12 months.

Alcohol degree: 13,5% abv.

Other available vintages: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2002, 1999, 1991

I am drinking a Chapoutier L’Ermite blanc 2008 and loving it and your video.

Drinking a glass of Bodegas Bhilar "La Revilla" vintage 2011, while watching this - very similar in profile! 100% old vine viura from Rioja, aged six years in used barrels. If you are a fan of this style, it is a must try, as is any of the wines from this bodega, such concentration and depth of aromas are a treat. Cheers, and keep on posting great content.
