I tried this with my new machine, and it was very cumbersome. I did a little more research, and you can prime the machine simply by lifting the lever on the machine (where you put the pods in) several times while the pump is running. This allows the machine to push the air out.

Thank you for this video! I have a Nespresso Lattissima that sat in storage for almost two years. I thought the machine went bad before trying YouTube and lo and behold I came across your video. Thank you, it worked! The key was to push down the watertank with some speed, in a way that big air bubbles come out. Unblocked the machine in seconds. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time.
