The Los Angeles Lakers Already Broke The #1 Rule

JJ Redick has made his debut as head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. And through his use of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht, even Bronny, etc. within the Lakers offense, there was A LOT to dissect vs the Minnesota Timberwolves. And in a game where the Lakers shot as poorly as they did, they essentially broke the #1 rule of 3 point shooting be required to win in today's NBA. Let's dive into how JJ Redick made this possible, as well as what the Lakers defense has showed us.

Funny how not standing around and waiting for Lebron or AD to create can lead to successful basketball.

This is because JJ actually played smart basketball himself. When you're a small guy you really have to think of ways on how to be a good basketball player.

This Lakers team feel much better. Faster tempo, moving the ball, they made jumpers! The team will be fun to watch.

lmao it would be the funniest thing to find out that the lakers have been sitting on a championship level roster for years that has just been put to waste by bad coaching

Rooting for JJ to succeed and prove all of the people who were critical of the Lakers hiring him and who doubted his ability to be a head coach in the NBA. Absolutely loved how much better the Lakers looked. Last 2 years it was beyond frustrating watching them play considering the talent they had. AD and Rui look like they playing at the high level they were at the Olympics.

We shot 3's like hot garbage and still handily beat last year's #3 seed the Timberwolves. In the 2024 Playoffs when the Timberwolves were shooting 3's like hot garbage they crumbed against the Mavs. Being able to win convincingly with bad shooting and still rebound for a bucket is THE recipe for success.

Especially after game 2 what surprised me most is just how locked in everyone is on both sides of the floor. JJ did a great job getting these guys to buy in early and AD is playing like an MVP

JJ got everything you look for as a potential franchise changing head coach. 15 year vet. Played for 5 different teams. Breathes the game of basketball and loves the game of basketball. Oh, and played for Coach K for 4 years in college. Dont be shocked by his success. Those that know the game have seen this coming .

Where all those people that were saying Hamm was just a scapegoat? Now you can see a real coach and offense you can see how terrible Hamm was.

It's amazing to see all the stuff JJ was talking about in his podcasts and YouTube videos actually put into play for a real NBA game

as a Lakers fan I almost cried watching how beautiful the offense was ran

Rondo Kyrie wade. When LeBron has a good ball handler around him he can waste more energy on defense and relax on offense

It’s crazy how this looks like a team playing team basketball instead of waiting for something to happen

“No rebounds, no rings” and “the rebounder gets paid”. Simple truths that Ham just didn’t get? It really is a simple game: more possessions = more shot attempts. Great video 👍🏻

My biggest takeaway was how much fun it looks like Rui is having. He looks like he’s enjoying every second of his playing time. Last year, he looked MISERABLE every time I watched this team. Having a coach that knows what he can do, and pushes him to do even more, looks like it’s doing wonders for him. He’s incredibly talented, if an actual coach can just unlock that

You need to be paid for this coverage. You did it best, You're a pro. This game show JJ is an amazing thinker. He said, "I'll use math", I think he uses math and science.
