smell of Coppertone suntan lotion, motorcycle fumes, Bondo, and BBQ chicken. It's June, 1978 in Detroit and this song is on rotation on the local WLLZ FM station. It's blaring on my Dad's Panasonic cassette radio. He and his buddies are working on their motorcycles and cars in the street, laughing and drinking. The occasional smell of strong weed pierces through the hot wind. Me and my brothers along with friends from around the neighborhood are taking turns jumping off the porch into the Doughboy swimming pool. It's summer and about 97 degrees outside. After that we play a game or two of Jarts. My new Huffy bicycle stands at attention on it's kickstand, shining in the sun. It's chrome reflecting the deep blue sky. What a time it was to be alive. I miss you dad.

1st time I ever heard this song I had just got back from deployment in the marine corps. My best friend shipped out a week before me and he was at the airport waiting on me.
Needless to say the party was on. He has since passed on and I always think about him when I hear this.
