My second trip to Cuba was to help my Madrina. I had already been initiated, but practice is different here in the US.

For three weeks in Diez de Octubre, all we did was "work the room, " and I learned so much. Lucumi runs so deep in Cuba. I saw Black men - young teenagers and old ones - practice intricate parts of this religion and show such reverence. I was in awe. I am so blessed to be crowned Oshun.
