How to enjoy the race:
- Take a shot every lap there isn't an over-take
- Pass out 30 minutes into the race

I find your lack of Bottas faith immensely disturbing

and somewhat accurate

Here is what I do during a "boring" race. I try to watch how everyone actually drives the car. I will pick a corner and look at things like, " Hamilton went through there in 4th gear and Grosjean is going through there in 3rd", or " Vettel is braking on the downside of the 100 meter sign and Bottas is braking 20 meters earlier than that". Stuff like that can tell you a lot of times why one driver is faster than another and not because his car has more power. It may also be an indication of a bad design if both team drives seem to hit corners the same way. I also watch the lines they take on the track. Sometimes it looks like they just line up behind each other, but actually they don't. especially when small gaps start happening. I also try to watch when they make adjustments on the wheel. Is the car under-steering too much ? Are the brakes not not biased right ?

I have actually taken what I have seen during even boring races and used it in F1 games and real driving. It works. To me there is no boring race. There is a lot to learn if you look for it.

I've been watching F1 since 1980 (possibly even a couple of races in 1979, it's all a blur now), and trust me, F1 didn't become boring since the Schumacher era. It was already boring during the eras of team domination, such as McLaren in the 80's, Williams in the 90's, Ferrari in the 2000's, etc. Each era had a few breaks in between when another team would rise briefly and give some real competition to the frontrunners. Benetton in the mid-90's vs. Williams, for example. Basically, I've learned to expect boring domination racing, for the most part, followed by a few abnormal years when the action is actually good. For example, 2012 when there were 7 different winners in the first 7 races of that year. I would say that this season is probably going to end up as one of the more action-packed seasons overall, notwithstanding a couple of boring races in a row. Let's not forget that stretch of great races from Bahrain to Azerbaijan!

To me, F1 is like Art. For obscur reasons, I just find it fascinating to watch.

Unfortunately, this is not going to fix the "boring race" problem. Though the races has been greatly improved.. Remember the Schumacher era... where ONE overtaking in the entire race was something to cheer about!

The best way to enjoy a "boring race" to attend it. Hockenheim 2016 is a case in point (as I attended it). From an armchair perspective, Hockenheim 2016 was probably not that much to write home about, but when you're there, you are enjoying not just the racing, but all that comes with physically being at the race track when there's a race on. The fans who are there, the thrills and spills of what's going on through the field and all that happens when racing is not happening, like the journey to and from the track (they're seldom dull and full of stories to tell) or the shops and activities around the track. Hockenheim for example has a museum by the main grandstand dedicated to Jim Clark, something I never knew until I went there

i kinda like how, when a race is over i just have that extra video from Chain bear F1. It's like having an extra nice layer of whipped cream on your dessert.

ChainBear, your humor and timing in comedy is what I would look for in a girl. Sadly, I'm straight. But anyhow, great vid!

8 - Make predictions during the race, either just to yourself or competing with your friends.
For example predict who will pit first and last or in which lap will an overtake occur or how many DNFs will be, etc.
Just random stuff throughout the race, it will make everything more entertaining!

since im in germany and the regular TV broadcast has more ads than race, i got the F1TV subscription.
so if the race seems boring, i just watch certain drivers in interesting positions!

Im actually quite dissapointed about the fans recently. As Matt said in his podcast I dont know any sport thats so damn over analyzed and changed like F1. Its really held under a microscope and somehow people want instant reactions to the sport if its not going how they would like it to be everytime. Vettel said it aswell. I love F1 and watching the Races. I dont really get bored even if its a race like Canada. I still love it. I dont know what kind of "Fans" are complaining like Hamilton everytime its not going as they wish.

I used to love the live timing, I still remember Canada 2014 watching Massa cruise up to the back of Perez, seeing the numbers drop lap by lap until that big collision near the end
